Welcome to Wollaston Museum

Wollaston museum contains a fascinating collection of local industry items, from boot and shoe making (Wollaston is the home of Doc Martens) to lace-making, farm implements, as well as toys and a 1751 clock. There are paintings by local Victorian water-colourist Alice Keep and her pupils. You can also find out more about the Keep story.

See history brought to life in Curiosity Cottage, refurbished with Lottery funding to show how your grandparents lived: no bathroom, iron bedsteads - and a mangle. Also here is our award-winning Archive Room containing historical artefacts and photographs.

On the same site is Beacon Hill, an English Heritage Scheduled Ancient Monument (12th century Norman motte and bailey).

An Audio Guide is available.

The site is FREE but donations are welcomed.
